Creating a Relaxing Yoga Space or Meditation Room
By: Guest Blogger – Brittany Hagler (Abstract Artist | Brittany Hagler’s Designs)
You feel at peace, free, alive, and humbled by your yoga or meditation practice. Why shouldn’t you have a space that makes you feel the same?
Your yoga space or meditation room shouldn’t only sound and smell relaxing it should look it too. We are very visually stimulated as human beings and I have a few tips to help you create a relaxing yoga space of your own:
1) Use Calming Colors
Blue, like the ocean waves or the vast blue sky.
Purple, like the beautiful delicate flower.
Green, like Mother Nature is organically relaxing and healing.
2) Use a Second Color to Clear Your Mind or Ground Your Space
a. White, will open the space up and give you a soft airy effect.
b. Tan, like beach sand is a perfect color to ground the space and you.
3) Point of Inspiration
Having something to focus on and help you take your mind off of a stressful day can be tremendously helpful. It allows you to focus and let go.
Pick something that inspires you, something relaxing, and has motion. Landscapes, seascapes and abstract art are perfect for this. It allows your mind to wonder and be inspired in new ways. Where as object art does not necessarily let your mind open up in the same way.
So go out and make the relaxing yoga space you deserve. A peaceful, freeing space.
I leave you with one final thought.
“A solid coat of paint on a wall will change the feel of the room, but the motion in the art is what gives it life.” – Brittany Hagler
