With the holidays fast approaching, I wanted to remind you to take care of the most important person on your shopping list – YOU!
You’ve worked hard and you deserve to put yourself first. Don’t worry that its selfish to put yourself first – it means you’ll have more energy to help others and to complete your to-do list.
Here are 3 tips to help with self-preservation over the holidays:
1) Schedule time for yourself. Sounds obvious. However, while you’re focused on your shopping list, your to-do list, and your party list, you may forget to create an “Appointments with Myself List”. Put some time on your calendar every few days to just sit, breath, and relax. Lie down. Take a nap. Take a hot bath. Do some deep breathing while you’re in line at the store.
2) Let some stuff go. Are you putting pressure on yourself to be perfect? What are some responsibilities you’ve hoisted upon yourself that you can just toss away? Can you delegate? Can you say NO? Can you let go of expectations and just be present in the moment?
3) Give your body some love too. In this season of eating-like-a-bear-preparing-for-hibernation (or wait, is that just me?), remember to do some yoga, some walking, and eat your vegetables.
You deserve a wonderful holiday just as much as everyone else on your list.
May your spirits soar throughout the season!
